It will be a fight to finish today in Lokoja ,the Kogi state capital when two teams owned and financed by two state governments in Nigeria lock horns in the round of 32 of the AITEO CUP 2019.
According to the media officer of the team Qozeem Oladapo, Ekiti United players and officials departed Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday for Lokoja preparatory to today’s match.
Coach Ademola Agbana speaking from Lokoja said the players were ready to give their best to ensure qualification for the next round of the Nigeria’s oldest football competition with a view to surpassing previous records.
The coach informed that the players were set to consolidate on the last weekend’s impressive 3-1 victory over Nnewi United by securing another victory today against Bendel Insurance football club of Edo State.
The Ekiti state owned team will be captained by Babatunde Bello while last weekend’s hat trick hero Tolulope Ojo will also lace the boots for United.
Today’s AITEO CUP match promises to be tougher compared to the round of 64 encounter as Bendel Insurance being a former premier league team will give it the fight it deserves but Ekiti United will hopefully put up a good fight on the field of play as only one of the two teams will surely progress while the other that loses will bow out.
From Lokoja, the venue of today’s AITEO CUP round of 32, Ekiti United will tomorrow travel to Auchi in Edo state by weekend to face Dynamite FC in week 8 will be decided in Ado against Gateway FC
